Battery Life Calculator

Estimate battery runtime from capacity, load current, and discharge efficiency.

Input parameters

%

Lithium-ion batteries are approximately 85-95%, lead-acid batteries 70-85%, and nickel-metal hydride batteries 80-90%.

Calculation results

Please enter the parameters and click the Calculate button.

Calculation formula

t = (Q x n) / I

t = run time (hours), Q = battery capacity, n = discharge efficiency, I = load current

Important Note: The actual battery capacity is related to temperature and aging.

  • -Temperature Effect: Battery capacity varies with ambient temperature. Below 0 °C, lithium-ion capacity may fall by 20–30%; temperatures above 40 °C accelerate aging.
  • -Aging degradation:Battery capacity gradually degrades during repeated charge and discharge cycles; lithium-ion batteries typically retain 80% capacity after 300 to 500 cycles.
  • -Discharge depth: Deep discharge (DOD > 80%) can shorten battery life. Where possible, keep discharge depth within 50–80%.
  • -Storage conditions:For long-term storage, maintain a battery charge between 40% and 60%, and avoid storing at high temperatures or in a fully charged state.

Usage Precautions

  • Avoid overcharging and over-discharging.
  • Use the matching charger.
  • Do not use or charge under extreme temperatures.
  • Charge periodically when not in use for an extended period to maintain battery level.
  • Damaged or swollen batteries should be replaced promptly.
  • Dispose of spent batteries according to local regulations.
